Automotive Technology Research and Development (ATRD) have released the latest in high-tech vehicle security, the Biometric fingerprint immobiliser,ATY-1. The system utilizes the vehicle owner’s unique fingerprint to allow the engine to be started. This means that should a thief have the vehicles key, they will not be able to start it unless the correct fingerprint is scanned.

With an increase in the theft of vehicles by means of stealing the keys first, this unit will provide customers with a system that will keep the car immobilised no matter what the thief tries. It will arm itself 10-seconds after the ignition is switched off and will only dis-arm when the correct fingerprint is scanned. Up to 30 fingerprints can be stored on the system for multiple users, and these can be scanned even if cut, swollen, or dirty.
